There's still some phutzing to be done but I've prevailed on Julia to let me post this draft version as I didn't want to keep you all waiting for another week, especially since I'd promised to post it last week!
I'll post the finalized poster as well, as soon as I get it.
I've also got some clips from the shoot which I think you'll like, I'm going to get those digitized and post them for you over the next couple of weeks.
Thousands of people worldwide have been watching the Straightheads trailer on YouTube (24 000 in the last week) and on the various other sites which have it (my thanks to those of you who have suggested alternative sites). It was #11 worldwide last week and is now #56 this month, and what's more, judging by all the comments, people are going wild about it. I've lost count of the number of people over in the USA who have written saying that they'll get on a plane and fly to the UK to see this movie. That excites me, and I wouldn't be surprised if a few die-hards go to the extent of doing exactly that. Anyway, I'm praying and hoping that all the internet buzz generated here and on YouTube etc... will translate into "bums on seats" during the all-important opening weekend here in the UK.
To those of you who are asking whether the film will come to their territory, it's really too early to tell. Like you, I'm crossing my fingers that it will. I'm pretty sure Straightheads sold all over Latin America as well as N. America but I reckon Sony and the other distributors in overseas territories will be waiting and watching to see whether this little movie can punch way above its weight on its UK release...

Are the comments by Alan Jones an example or his real views of the film? He is a major critic for various film mags.

Thanks Dan for the update!
I really like this poster, I prefer it to the earlier drafts, as it looks more suspenseful. It really looks thriller-like, but still quite elegant, not too much like horror...
I think I will email Sony Germany again. I do want to see this movie on a BIG BIG screen! :-))
Bye, Michael

For a WIP this is looking pretty polished! I like it. Simple but very eye catching. Nice choice of font and tagline. Now how about the Straightheads ringtone, the Straightheads podcast on iTunes and the Straightheads desktop theme for Windows XP and Vista? ;)

Hi Dan! Good to hear from you again and glad to know that reception to the trailer has continued to stay so positive.
Thanks for posting that new draft of the poster. It's amazing! I'm looking forward to seeing what element will remain from the past draft posters you've shown us if anything at all.
More videos to come, Dan? Wow! I can't wait to see what they'll be focused on.
Thanks again for the update post, Dan. I eagerly look forward to hearing from you again.
Take care.
- Alan.

Loved this new Poster. Even tho it's in progress, I already think this is more powerful than the others. There's something about the red color that, i don't know... Just adds tension to it all. It's great. I'm loving this new draft! :D
The internet buzz over the movie and its trailer WILL be translated to 'bums on seats' in the UK. And I hope all around the world, too. :D

"I've lost count of the number of people over in the USA who have written saying that they'll get on a plane and fly to the UK to see this movie."
Me being one of them....but I have no $$ to go to the UK. Maybe Toni or Silver can house me LOL! But I'd have a hard time convincing work to give me time off to fly overseas to see a movie!

U know I'll have to get on the plane to see it bc it is no way i'm going to see it in my shity country Poland... I don't know why Gillian is ignored here so much... I really hate it... And I really hate my country,.... What a shity life I have.

This is better than the other one. Much better.

I think somebody very well-to-do should rent a plane and fly us all to London to emphasize the wide spread appeal of this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would surely get Sony Pictures attention!!!!!!!!!!!!
:lol

This poster is not bad, but something about the previous ones you've showed seemed to have a much greater appeal on me. And I dont think it's the photos that are used, but the writing and the font and the placing and colors. im sure my observation has no vote, but im just putting it out there anyway.
Can't wait for the film, I strongly believe i'll be able to see it sometime soon rigth here in san diego.

Hahaha, I'm for Karen's idea as well!! :P My bum would surely be up for that! lol

Just as I was saying, please please don't make it red, in my last post!(sighs)
Now it looks just like any other thriller/horror movie poster. Faces in shadows, oh that's new! There's nothing distinctive or original about it. The other one had style. I don't like this new version one bit. It cheapens the pitch of the film. The first one suggested an underlying tone of disturbing psychological drama, this new one merely suggests a run of the mill thriller.
Sorry not to be joining with the 'wow' crowd on this one.

I would say that I really don't like this poster much... It seems cliche, Gillian looks unnaturally "glamorous" and "shiny" (she is almost unrecognizable), and there is not something distinctive about it. I hope that you finally select one of the previous ones or even the promo one with some changes. This poster is unoriginal and doesn't attract the eye.

Well I much prefer this one to the previous two. From what I know of the film, the previous two posters gave an inaccurate impression of the film's premise. Also, I may be wrong here, but GA is probably the most recognisable thing about this film, right? I mean, Danny Dyer has a big following too but it's likely the average person would recognise GA first. Now, with the previous two posters, Alice is lying down which makes it much more difficult to immediately recognise who the actress is. I much prefer this design because both characters are striking *and* recognisable.
Dan, can I make a small request? I'm very much looking forward to all the promotional stuff that both GA and DD are going to do but can you please ask Danny to modify his language, even it's just a little? I've heard a few of his interviews lately and he seems like a really hard-working, intelligent guy but his language is obscene! I'm all for some well-timed swearing but seriously, it's painful to listen to him talk and that volume of obscenity from your leading man isn't a particularly good advert for Straightheads, or any film, IMO.
Hope you don't think I'm speaking out of turn but we all want Straightheads to have great promotion in order to reach as many people as possible.
